Job Description
The Health Care Aide (HCA) works as a collaborative member of the multidisciplinary team, providing personal assistance and support services to patients, clients and residents requiring short-term or ongoing support. Responsibilities include supporting activities of daily living, hygiene, nutrition, mobility, recreation and safety needs, assisting nurses with routine care, assisting with organized activities, observing and reporting patient mood, health and wellbeing, maintaining a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors, and supporting communication with patients and healthcare professionals. New hires without proof of HCA certification will be paid at the uncertified pay grade according to AUPE AUX Collective Agreement. Requires active or eligible registration/practice permit with the College of LPNs and HCAs of Alberta (CLHA) as a Health Care Aide, with proof of education or completion of HCA Certificate within 18 months of hire.
